“The photographs of Nuno Cera rediscover the work of Souto de Moura, dismantling it into indistinct shrapnel. In doing so, they reverse the canonical, and abundantly published, vision of Souto de Moura’s work. Nuno Cera circumvents the redundancy of today’s ubiquitous imagery by forgoing an objectual reading of buildings that allows us to understand them as a whole. He favours partial readings, privileging the capturing of “atmospheres” by means of precise framings and details.”
