“Photographer and video artist, Nuno Cera began exhibiting at the end of the 1990s, at a time when he already had a particular interest in reading of space and its conditions of perception, in architecture and urban contexts. Combining fictional and poetic strategies with a language inspired by the documentary, Cera has been developing his work in this shared realm where he affords the viewer an interesting encounter between reality and the way the artist perceives it. The landscape - as a model of representation - has become one of his focuses of interest, very particularly based on the assumption of a certain point of view.
…what we see are rapid, surprising images produced by a gaze which scrutinizes but is simultaneously fleeing, locating us in relation to these spaces and offering us scenarios for which we could construct whatever narrative we wish, reinforcing the cinematic quality we find in most of the artist´s work.”
